Description:

Manufactured 1870. The accompanying George Madis letter mentions the "special order inlaid silver blade [sight]" and the engraving as "the work of L. D. Nimschke". Per Madis, "Geometric patterns seen on the receiver and buttplate are perfectly executed and show Nimschke's hand. Entwined scrolls, sculpture on the scrolls, shading and backgrounds are all clearly Nimschke work." We believe the work was performed in the 20th century by an unknown highly skilled custom engraver.
