Manufactured 1872-1900. With matching detachable shoulder stock with nicely figured added walnut inset, leather covered case (fair), matching 24" octagon barrel noted by the consignor as in .32 WCF, matching 18" octagon .22 rimfire barrel, forend, and tools. Notes in case: "Cased Hunters Pet originally made for L.B. Simmons of Virginia, moved to Denver, was a fly rod maker, Brother S.B. Simmons a stockmaker for George C. Schoyen, later for Schoyen & Peterson. Set was obtained by Mr. J.J. Grant while stationed in Denver in 1941 from S.B. Simmon, L.B. being dead." The set was featured in James J. Grant's book "Single Shot Rifles" on page 54. Includes a note from Grant indicating the mention of the scope on that page being part of the set was an error.
