This early cartridge shotgun incorporates Joseph Needham’s patent of October 2, 1852, number 184 and was made in circa 1854. Rib signed “JOSEPH NEEDHAM & CO. 26 PICCADILLY. LONDON.” Swing out bolts at the breech end, engraved “BOLTED” where the safety catch pivots and signed “NEEDHAM’S PATENT NO. 922”. Deep trap for spare firing pins (hinged cover missing).
