Although the early records for this innovative maker are lost, the serial number suggests it is likely that this gun was made in circa 1876. Barrel signed “E.C. GREEN. 87. HIGH STREET. CHELTENHAM”. Action with carved percussion fence, rebounding backaction lock signed “E.C. GREEN” within a ribbon, and classic English border and scroll engraving throughout. Figured 14 3/8" walnut stock with checkered grip and forearm. Birmingham black powder proof marks. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection
