11 1/4" OAL, 6 5/8" unmarked double-edged spear point blade, German silver hilt with cast-in ribbing and scroll motifs, and a pressed lather sheath with nickel fittings. Born in 1836, Thomas Wilberforce Egan joined the 40th New York Volunteer Infantry (aka the U.S. Constitution Guard and the Mozart Regiment) at formation, and would be elected Lieutenant Colonel. Ending his service at the rank of Brigadier General (brevet Major General), the Mine Run Campaign, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, 2nd Petersburg (wounded again), and Boydton Plank Road (injured a 3rd time), and mustered out in 1966. Some minor wear and spotting, otherwise good overall.
