A) Harpers Ferry Model 1842 Rifled Musket with Scarce Model 1858 Sight and Bayonet

OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.

Description:

"1845" dated lock and "1844" dated barrel tang. Scarce example of a Harpers Ferry alteration rifled musket fitted with the Model 1858 rear sight. Armory and Arsenal rifled, and rifled and sighted muskets are described on pages 195-200 of George D. Moller's book "American Military Shoulder Arms Volume III" with this exact musket pictured at the top of page 200. Includes US socket bayonet and "BAKER/NY/McKENNEY" marked leather sling.
