Manufactured c. 1868-1869. "S.C" marked. One of 200 purchased by the State of South Carolina after being altered to .45-70. "F.C." carved in left of buttstock.

Description:

This model was issued to the 18th Hussars, and the carbines were also used by sportsmen, colonial units, and police. Some are believed to have been used by Confederates during the U.S. Civil War. "CALISHER & TERRY MAKERS TO H.M. WAR DEPARTMENT" marked on top of barrel.
