Description:

All frames manufactured in 1881-1898. Scrimshaw grips with left panel featuring "FIAT JUSTITIA/RUAT COELUM" (Latin phrase: "Let justice be done though the heavens fall") in banners above a female warrior carrying a shield marked "SAN FRANCISCO and right panel featuring "Presented to John Coleman form William." A possible contender for "John Coleman" is John C. Coleman (1923-1919) who was a California mining, railroad and public utility businessman as well as a California State Senator.
