The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was ordered on November 22, 1851, and completed on July 22, 1852, as a double percussion shotgun for an A.R. George Esq. The gun has subsequently been converted to breechloading. With browned Damascus barrels signed “THOMAS BOSS 73 ST. JAMES’S STREET. LONDON” on the rib. Scroll engraved action and locks, the latter each signed “THOMAS BOSS”. Well-figured 14" walnut stock with checkered grip and forearm. London black powder proof marks.
