Description:

This is early WWII Winchester produced M1 Carbine. This carbine appears to be a late Example A or early Example B carbine produced in the first or second block of production serial numbers. In fact its actually the "46,285th" carbine produced in the first Winchester contract. The following parts have been identified via the excellent book "M1 Carbine" by R.C. Larson. Early type 1-A receiver with the single dismount recess, a Type 1 dismounted recoil spring tube and guide. Standard receiver markings with the stylized "WINCHESTER" on the rear bridge with the two-position, flip rear sight stamped "S" on the left side. Fitted with the Example B second pattern Winchester barrel with the one-piece integral gas cylinder and the long barrel skirt. Barrel has the rare early pattern Winchester markings running parallel to the bore with "Ordnance Shell/Flame/W.R.A./2-43". Its correctly fitted with the early milled Winchester front sight with the thumbnail cut behind the front sight blade and a Type I barrel band with two faint weld scars. It has a Type II recoil plate with a "W" stamped on top. It has the Type I operating slide with the 3/8th arm joint along with a "W" in the bottom. It has the early second pattern all blued flat bolt with the "W" stamped on the side of the recoil lug. the internal components firing pin, extractor and ejector are all blued. Fitted with Type III trigger housing with the "w" on the right rear side, it has a type I hammer, in the white stamped with a "W" on the side, with a Type II plain face magazine catch marked "W" also in the white. Type I safety that is serrated on both sides, with a "W" marked sear. It has the early deep groove, two-rivet handguard stamped with a "W" on the underside. It has an early "I" cut High Wood stock, that is stamped with a capital "H" in the barrel channel with the right side cartouched "WRA/GHD" (double struck) followed by a Cross-Cannon ordnance stamp with a circular "P" proof on the flat of the pistol grip. It is complete with a "SW" marked blued 15 shot magazine. Some parts do show a slight parkerized color difference.
