Manufactured in 1856. The left side of the grip is inscribed "R.G. Batte" and "TEXAS" is inscribed at the toe. Includes a leather holster rig with "R.G.B." inscribed cap pouch and "R.G. Bate TEXAS" marked cartridge box. The included documents from John Spicer of Champion Hill Relics attribute the set to Private Richard G. Batte of Company I of the 1st Texas Legion (later the 27th Texas Cavalry) and the belt as Confederate made. A copy of "The First Texas Legion" by Allen G. Hatley is included.
