This model is also known as Remington's "New Repeating Pistol [Elliot's Pat.] No. 2." They were manufactured c. 1863-1888.

This pistol is the Model 4 "Bulldog" variant. The various Sharps pepperbox models were manufactured between 1859 and 1874 by both C. Sharps & Co. and Sharps & Hankins. Like many multit-shot pocket pistols of the day, they are often associated with western gamblers and wealthy gentlemen who could carry them secreted on their person.
