Manufactured in circa 1870. With browned Damascus barrels originally rifled and then partially smoothbored to create rifle chokes and each engraved with a band of stylized running foliage at the breech end and a small spray of foliage around each pin aperture. Broad raised matted rib with bead front sight, rear sight of one standing and three folding leaves each with platinum inlaid center line, the folding leaves matted to match the rib, signed "W.W. GREENER. No. 48 DUKE ST. ST. JAMES’S & No. 11 STRAND, LONDON”, and engraved with a spray of scrollwork at the breech end. Border and scroll engraved action, back action locks and furniture. The action incorporating the push forward underlever which actuates a locking lug in the breech face and also operates two engraved levers which half cock the hammers to allow opening. The locks are each signed “W.W. GREENER”. The trigger guard has a pistol grip spur with checkered tip, the furniture completed by the butt plate with short scroll engraved tang. The underside of the barrels and water table with Birmingham black powder proof marks, the barrels also with Greener “Elephant” trademarks. Figured 14 1/2 inch straight hand stock with checkered grip and forearm, the latter with key fastener. The underside of the butt with blank silver oval initial escutcheon and sling eye, the corresponding sling eye to the underside of the barrels. Weight 10 lbs. 6 oz.
