Description:

Manufactured c. 1850s-1860s by J. Walters & Co. at their Globe Works in Sheffield, England. Multiple knives bearing this marking were discovered on the shipwreck of the Modern Greece, a Confederate blockade runner. 15" OAL, 9 1/2" chef's knife shaped blade marked "J.WALTERS & Co/SHEFFIELD/GLOBE WORKS" and the left of the spine is decoratively ground. Rectangular pearl grip with light fluting and German silver pommel with floral motifs. Includes a leather sheath with German silver fittings. Good, the blade mostly bright with some scattered light pitting and mild wear on the remainder. The sheath is fair with significant leather wear.
