Description:

This style of air gun would have been used primarily for indoor target shooting c. early 19th century. "Hyp: Eberle in Reichenhall." inscribed ahead of a "crown/V" proof on top of the barrel at the breech. Features a sliding octagon barrel chambered in approximately .31 caliber/8 mm (possibly for use with 7.5 mm darts with a hair tail) with a smooth bore. Hidden air tank in the hollowed-out wooden buttstock. Loose sliding door on the right of the buttstock. Absent tang peep sight, absent cleaning rod. Mechanically untested.
