Leonard Wells Volk's (1828-1895) President Abraham Lincoln bronze bust. This is the artist who knew Lincoln Personally and cast this image of Lincoln showing him with a pensive frown as he was to face the horrors of his future presidency. Volk did many images of Lincoln throughout the president's lifetime including the famous "Death mask of Lincoln" and the "Proclamation of Emancipation". The bronze measures 12"x7" and rests on a 4"x4" marble base. The bronze is signed on the lower left side "ALV STUDIOS" and on the back "ABRAHAM LINCOLN/MODELED FROM LIFE/LEONARD VOLK 1860." The bronze is in very good condition with some casting and storage marks.
