Description:

The lock is marked "TOWER/1862" at the center and St. Edward's Crown without the "VR" below is marked at the rear. Birmingham commercial proofed breech with two "25" bore marks (indicates .577 caliber). Rear sight removed and filled in. "A.N. Leslie/Co. E. 126th I.V.I./2. Brig. 2. Div./7 A.C." carved into the left of the stock. Alexander N. Leslie is listed as originally from Coe, Illinois, entered service in Port Byron, Illinois at about 18 years old, mustered in out of Alton, Illinois on September 4th, 1862, and active with the 126th Illinois Infantry Regiment, Company E, with a muster out date of July 12th, 1865 out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Consignor notes state that he fought at Vicksburg, Little Rock, Duval's Bluff & other Arkansas battles.
