James Reid's Knuckle Dusters are among the most distinctive handguns of the late 19th century. Around 10,690 of these .22 caliber "My Friend" knuckle dusters were manufactured from the late 1860s to early 1880s. Small .22 caliber pocket sized pistols were popular self-defense weapons in the late 19th century and the ability to flip the revolver around and use it as a brass knuckle if seven rounds of .22 didn't stop assailants was certainly a benefit. This example has attractive floral engraving patterns and the standard model and patent markings over the left side of the cylinder of later models.
