Description:

1) Individually Marked U.S. Army Uniform Shirt and Pants. Both the shirt and pants are brown. The shirt is marked 15 1/2 and 33 for size, with the name "T.G. KIRKWOOD, JR." added to the inside of the collar, and a set of brown and tan plastic buttons. The pants have the Kirkwood name stamped on the interior in multiple spots, with a button fly and rayon lined waistband. No notes as to Kirkwood's identity were provided by the consignor. Good overall, with some repaired cuts and tears on the pants, some partially detached belt loops, and mild handling marks overall. 2) U.S. Army Air Corps Uniform Jacket. A tag for "Belle Jardiniere" of Paris is present under the collar, with Captain's bars on the shoulder straps, "U.S." and Army Air Corps pins on the lapels, a U.S. Third Army patch and three service chevrons on the left sleeve, and a set of silver bullion pilot's wings over a WWI Victory Medal ribbon (with two bronze stars) on the left breast. No individual markings are present; the uniform would be appropriate to a WWI aviator who remained in service for the transition from the Army Air Service to the Army Air Corps. Very good, with some minor stains and moth activity. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection
