Three U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Longarms

A) Springfield Model 1884 Rifle

Manufactured 1888, "SWP/1890" cartouche, "51" stamped on both sides of stock, consignor notes that many other trapdoors around this serial number were issued to the 51st Iowa Volunteers for use in the Spanish-American War.

ConditionGood with traces of case color patterns and some scattered light pitting. Wood is fair with some minor cracks and patches of filler near the buttplate. Mechanically fine.

Receiver manufactured 1887, barrel shortened, stock shortened and heavily reshaped, front sight replaced.

ConditionFair overall with much of the refinished blue, scattered speckling of oxidation, and some minor handling marks on the reshaped/shortened wood. Mechanically fine.

Manufactured 1882, front sight blade replaced.

ConditionGood overall with traces of the original finish, a few patches of light pitting, a few minor cracks and dings in the refinished wood, and traces of protective varnish. Mechanically fine.
