Description:

English-made double barrel shotgun imported by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. and sold under the Winchester name between 1879-1884. "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS Co. (CLASS C) NEW HAVEN. CT" marked on top of the barrel rib and "WINCHESTER/CLASS C" on the lock plates. Birmingham proofed. Includes a November 2, 1989, dated Cody/Winchester Arms Museum letter addressed from Herbert Houze indicates this shotgun was manufactured sometime between 1880-1883 and proceeds to explain the origin of these English made Winchester shotguns.

Rating Definition:

Good with traces of original finish, mild oxidation, and general mild wear. The sanded wood is also good and has small chips, soft/recut checkering, and general moderate wear. Mechanically fine.
