Description:

1) 35 1/2" OAL, with a rubber tip, hardwood shaft, sterling silver collar engraved "J.H.S.", and a curved head. The head ends in a carved and silver plated rendering of a dragon's head, with glass eyes and fine details. 2) 34" OAL, The C-shaped, German silver grip of this cane is ornately cast in the form of a confrontation between a panther and a snake on a log and appears to have been silver plated (traces remain). There is a faint hallmark/maker's mark on the grip. It is joined to the shaft with a "900" hallmarked silver band and the shaft is ebonized with an iron sleeve towards the bottom and a modern rubber tip.

Rating Definition:

1) The dragon is missing the lower jaw and areas of silver, the tip and shaft show some cracking, otherwise good overall. 2) Fine overall, silver and German silver showing an attractively aged patina, moderate wear on the shaft, and some brown patina on the iron.
