Rating Definition:

Good overall as refinished, with pitting, wear, and some cracks and handling marks in the stock. Absent end section of the front band spring. Mechanically needs work.

Description:

Approximately 4,000 cadet muskets were manufactured at Springfield Armory c. 1852-1853 for use by various cadet schools around the country. "1853" dated lock and barrel tang. Subsequently armory rifled and sighted. "172" marked on top of the rear barrel band.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall with some pitting/corrosion, and a few chips and handling marks in the re-oiled stock. Mechanically excellent.
