Description:

Manufactured 1865-66 with the Stabler cut-off, rack number "343" stamped on right side of buttstock. U.S. marked Civil War Ames Model 1840 Artillery saber is dated “1864” and has the Chicopee address on the 32" curved blade.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with smooth dark patina, slight flashes of original case colors, spotting, and wood with dings and a few hairline cracks at buttplate. Saber is good with nicks in the edge, attractive patina on brass guard, overall tight grip wrap, scabbard has a mixed patina and spotting. Mechanically excellent.
