Manufactured in 1957, the year the model number stamping began. While this is not a configuration listed by Nahas and Supica in "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson", it is very possibly a "transitional" model between the Pre-Model 15 and Model 15, with the known rare barrel length of the Model 15.
