Manufactured c. 1882-1884. This example has no Navy inspection markings. Designed by James Paris Lee, these rifles are considered the first of their kind to be adopted for military use with a detachable spring-loaded box magazine.

Good with mostly brown patina, scattered patches of light pitting and dings. Stock is with scattered cracks, scratches, dents, and an absent chipped section below the left of the receiver. Broken left edge of the rear sight. Mechanically fine.
