Description:

1) Ryker case containing a portrait of an older woman labeled as an "Original silver print photograph portrait of Dulvina Maxwell taken in 1919..." and cased portrait of a young man labeled "Tin type photo...found in the papers of Eusavio Gonzales with the Billy the Kid letter. The photo is not Gonzales. We think it's the Kid What do you think?" The inside of the second portrait's case has three rows of letters that do not appear to spell names, possible sets of initials. 2) Framed portrait of a man within a wall frame with label reading "Barney Mason". Mason was a member of Pat Garrett's posse that tracked down Billy the Kid. 3) Small portrait of a woman within a display frame labeled "Maggie Brown Owner Browns Rooming House Turned Henry McCarty in to Sheriff Whitehall for stealing clothes Sept 23 1875". 4) Portrait of three well-dressed men with trim set in a display frame. 5) Portrait of a man set within a brass frame and in a display frame with a label reading "William Antrim. Billy the Kid step father Original tintype photo Earliest known photo." 6) Portrait of two men set within a frame with a label reading "William Black Owner of Silver City Stan Hotel Gave Billy dish washing job". 7) Portrait of a man with a case frame set within a display case with label reading "Dan Dedrick friend of Billy the Kid". 8) Framed portrait of a man with a printed copy of another photograph labeled "Fred Tecumseh Waite". Waite was one of Tunstall's cowboys and was one of the Regulators with Billy the Kid during the Lincoln County War.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall. Most of the portraits are nice and clear and have age and storage related wear. The display frames have cracks and holes from prior mounting, and the Dan Dedrick attributed photo's display frame glass is cracked.
