Description:

Manufactured c. 1864. Features a German silver blade front sight, two-line address and patent marking, dovetailed notch and ladder rear sight, additional rear sight dovetail with a filler block on the barrel, the matching serial number on top of the barrel at the breech and left side of the lower tang, the "W" inspection mark on the lower tang, and the "H" inspection mark on the right side of the heel. The number has been removed from the stock mortise. THhe buttplate and screws are numbered "3129". Many of the Henry rifles were purchased by or for Union troops later in the Civil War, and, after the war, settlers pressed into Indian territory igniting conflicts during which both sides employed the legendary Henry rifle.

Rating Definition:

Good with traces of original finish and brown patina on the iron, deep aged patina and mild scratches on the frame and buttplate, some chips and dents on the earlier production replacement stock, and general moderate wear suggesting the rifle saw considerable use in the period. Mechanically fine.
