Barrel: 31 1/2 inch round
Finish: blue/bright
Grip:
Stock: walnut

Item Interest: Active
Serial Number:
Class: Antique
Bore Condition: Good - Some light pitting or frosted appearance
Description:

This unique Mauser prototype rifle shares resemblance to the Mauser 71/84 Gewehr, with an internal tube magazine, but has differences in the construction of the receiver and some visual similarities to the Model 1888 Commission Gewehr. The gun certainly appears to be factory quality, and is the only example like it known by this writer. No receiver, barrel, rear sight or stock markings visible (never appears to have been marked), with small Imperial German crown proofs on some small components, and chambered for use with an unknown 8mm centerfire cartridge, with an outer barrel jacket. Duffel cut stock, indicating this was likely a bringback.

Rating Definition:

Good with original finish, freckling and some light pitting. Stock is also good with numerous scattered dents and scratches, duffel cut, a filled in wood section on top behind the receiver, and a few cracks visible on either side of the wrist. Magazine tube does not properly stay inserted, absent retaining wedge and screw in the front barrel band, otherwise mechanically fine.
