One of approximately 3,000 manufactured circa 1877 to 1879 by Evans Repeating Rifle Co. of Mechanic Falls, Maine. Until the 20th century the Evans rifles were the only arms mass produced in the state of Maine and they boasted an innovative rotary magazine that held up to 34 rounds, putting them well above their competitors at the time. Period replacement blade front sight. Includes a modern rifle sock sleeve.

Very good with hints of frontier character, showing strong original blue finish and case colors in some of the protected areas with characteristic smooth brown patina on the balance, and some scattered light freckling/pitting. Wood is good with cracks and frontier nail repairs in the buttstocks, and scattered dents, scratches and a few chips. Mechanically fine.
