A) U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle

Description:

Manufactured c. 1890. Partly visible boxed cartouche stamped on the left wrist of the stock. "IO" stamped on some of the components.

Rating Definition:

Good with traces of original finish in some protected areas, mostly smooth brown patina with scattered spotting and pitting. Stock is also good with numerous scattered dents, chips, scratches and scuffs. Absent cleaning rod. Absent firing pin assembly, otherwise mechanically fine.

Description:

Manufactured in 1870. "1870" dated breech block, correct "1863" dated lock. Boxed inspection cartouche stamped on the left stock wrist. Initials "H.W.H." carved on top of the buttstock.

Rating Definition:

Good with traces of original finish in some protected areas, mostly smooth brown patina with scattered spotting and pitting. Stock is also good with scattered dents, scuffs, and scratches. Absent cleaning rod. Mechanically excellent.
