Bore Condition: The bore is partially darkened and has distinct rifling and some pitting.
Description:

The factory letter lists this rifle as a Model 1874 Carbine invoiced on April 26, 1876, to B. Kittredge & Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Order Book lists it with a 25 inch barrel. It was one of ten carbines in a case sent to Kittredge at the price of $15 each. The consignor's notes indicate he purchased it from Russell Galloway who had purchased it in Livingston, Montana, in the 1920s. They note the caliber as .50-70. "FREUND & BRO" marked on top between the rear sight and "CALIBRE 50." Provenance: The Russell Galloway Collection; Property of a Gentleman

Rating Definition:

Good as modified with traces of original finish, gray and brown patina, oxidation/pitting, and moderate wear. Mechanically fine.
