Description:

Originally established in 1817, Hyde & Goodrich was a major maker and merchant in silver and military goods, with a particular emphasis on fine wares imported from Europe, and while they continued in that trade in support of the Confederacy the partnership ended c.1861. 36" OAL, 30" quillback triple fuller blade with etched decoration, the "HYDE & GOODRICH N.O." merchant mark etched on the spine, and small Solingen proofs on the right side of the ricasso. the brass guard is decorated with floral scrollwork, with laurel patterns on the Phrygian helmet pommel and a wire wrapped sharkskin grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with a mixed gray patina, shallow pitting and a few light edge nicks on the blade, an aged patina on the brass, and mild scuffing/separation of the grip wrap. A small gap is visible between the pommel and the guard, but fittings are generally tight.
