A) T. Ketland Musket

Description:

Thomas Ketland Sr. was an active Birmingham gunmaker from 1760 until his death in 1816, and T. Ketland & Co. carried on until bankruptcy in 1821. "T/KETLAND" marked lock, no visible barrel markings, "1705" hand carved on top of the buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with brown patina, pitting and wear. Stock is also good as sanded and re-oiled, with scattered dents, scratches, cracks, and a few chipped absent sections. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Manufactured c. second half of the 1700s. Partly legible "SANDWELL" marked on the lock, "SANDWELL MINORIES LONDON" marked on top of the barrel with London sunken proofs at the upper left breech of the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with brown patina, pitting and wear. Stock is also good as sanded and re-oiled, with scattered dents, scratches, cracks, and a few chipped absent sections. Mechanically fine.
