Description:

Manufactured as a breech loader in England in 1870 for export. British export crown marked at the tail of the lock with "TOWER/1870" at the center. Breech block numbered "996" on the right.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with brown patina and scattered pitting/corrosion. Replacement breech block knob. Stock is also good with numerous scattered dents and scratches, and a few cracks. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Originally manufactured as a Model 1822 muzzleloading musket and later converted to a breech loader c. 1860s-1870s. "GB" in an oval Belgian acceptance mark on top of the breech of the barrel with "1868" dated upper left. Includes a brown leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina, and scattered pitting/corrosion. Stock is also good as sanded and re-oiled, with fading, numerous scattered dents, scratches, cracks and chips. Absent cleaning rod, absent hammer screw. Mechanically fine.
