A) U.S. Smith-Corona Model 03-A3 Rifle

Description:

Receiver manufactured c. 1943-1944. "SC/flaming bomb/6 43" marked barrel, "X" marked bolt. Fitted with a walnut handguard and 'S' profile stock with boxed "FJA" (Col. Frank J. Atwood) and "ordnance wheel" stamps on the left of the wrist. Includes a green CMP hard case and a green web reproduction soft case.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining most of the original finishes with some minor edge wear, dried grease, some limited brown patina, and minor handling marks. The stock is fine as re-oiled. Mechanically excellent.

Description:

Receiver manufactured in 1942, "RA/flaming bomb/5-42" marked barrel, "R" (Remington Arms) marked bolt assembly, rear sight, barrel bands, and front sight cover. Fitted with a replacement World War II era walnut handguard and 'S' profile walnut stock. Includes a reproduction M1907 pattern leather sling, a "U. C." (Utica Cutlery Co.) marked and "1942" dated M1905 bayonet, and World War II era green scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, retaining much of the finish with some minor pitting under the finish, some minor edge wear, thinning on the buttplate, some minor patches of spotting/brown patina visible, and light handling marks. The stock is very good as sanded and re-oiled with numerous scattered minor compression and handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very fine.
