A) U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1892/96 Rifle

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with strong rifling and minor oxidation in the grooves.
Description:

Manufactured in 1894, subsequently updated to Model 1896 configuration, "X/S6" marked bolt. No visible stock cartouche, script circled "P" firing proof under the wrist.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished, with much of the finish, some minor edge wear, thinning on the balance with mostly brown patina, plum coloration on the bolt, some minor areas of pitting under the finish, some minor freckling, and minor handling marks. The stock is also very good as sanded and re-oiled with a few minor dents. Mechanically excellent.

Bore Condition: The bore is shiny with crisp rifling.
Description:

Receiver manufactured in 1929, "S A/flaming bomb/1 42" marked arsenal replacement barrel, replacement unmarked straight-handle bolt. Fitted with a World War II era 'S' profile replacement walnut stock, marked with two "RA-P" (U.S. Raritan Arsenal) rebuild stamps on the left, and a "D28179" part numbered handguard. Includes a nickel oiler in the butt trap.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, retaining most of the finish, with some minor edge wear, some limited minor pitting visible under the finish, limited spotting/brown patina, dried grease, and light handling marks. The stock is fine as sanded and re-oiled. Mechanically excellent.
