A) Springfield Model 1842 Rifled Musket with Long Range Sight

Bore Condition: The bore is darkened with pitting/corrosion and lightly visible worn rifling.
Description:

"SPRING/FIELD/1850" marked tail of the lock, partly visible Federal Eagle above "US" at the center of the lock, faintly visible "1845" date marking on the barrel tang, "V/P/eagle head" proofs at the upper left breech of the barrel. Includes a nickel plated "US" marked socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Good with scattered dark colored pitting and wear. Stock is also good as sanded and re-oiled, with some scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet is good.

"1863" dated tail of the lock, Federal Eagle above "US" and "L.G.&Y./WINDSOR-Vt" at the front of the lock, faintly visible "1863" dated top breech of the barrel, "V/P/eagle head" proofs at the upper left breech of the barrel. Includes a "US" marked socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fine with scattered freckling, a few patches of minor pitting, and distinct markings and edges in the metal. Stock is very good with scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet is good.
