A) Dutch Musket

Bore Condition: The smooth bore is darkened with pitting/corrosion.
Description:

Manufactured c. mid to late 1700s. Small marking "ID/KULEN/BURG" at the center of the lock, no visible barrel markings, remnants of markings on the oval wrist plate, with "HIO" carved on top of the buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with a shortened barrel, brown patina, scattered pitting, corrosion and wear. Stock is also good as shortened, re-oiled, with a replacement spliced section at the front, and numerous scattered dents, scratches and cracks. Modern replacement top jaw and jaw screw. Absent sling swivels. Mechanically fine.



B) "US" Surcharged "1764" Marked European Flintlock Musket

Description:

Partly visible faded "US" surcharge marking on top of the breech of the barrel, no visible maker markings, leaf engravings on the sideplate and top of the buttplate, with "M" above "MAY/27/1764" hand carved on the back of the buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with a shortened barrel, brown patina, scattered pitting, corrosion and wear. Stock is also good as sanded and re-oiled, with numerous scattered dents, scratches and cracks, and a few reattached sections visible. No spring pressure, mechanically non-functional, needs work.
