Frame manufactured c. 1875-1881. Globe front sight, Pope windgauge elevation peep sight mounted on the upper tang, "H.M. POPE" marked modern replacement custom barrel, replacement forearm with palm rest, and replacement schuetzen style stock. The consignor indicated this rifle is recorded in Warren Greatbatch and Tom Rowe's work on H.M. Pope and is in .22 Short and "is an excellent shooter."

Very good as assembled, with smooth gray patina on the frame with scattered spotting/corrosion and some light pitting, and nearly all of the finish on the replacement barrel. Replacement wood is also very good, with some scattered light dents and scratches, and some nicks and cracks visible around the wrist area. Mechanically fine.
