A) U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag-Jorgensen Rifle

Description:

Manufactured in 1903. Boxed script "JSA/1903" cartouche stamped on the left wrist of the stock, with a circled script "P" proof on bottom.

Rating Definition:

Very good with much of the original finish, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, scattered surface freckling and a few patches of light pitting. Stock is also very good with scattered dents and scratches, replacement handguard, and defined stamps. Mechanically excellent.

Description:

Approximately 5,000 Model 1898 carbines were manufactured, and were the last U.S. military arm to be fitted with a saddle ring. Replacement blade front sight, correct "C" marked folding ladder rear sight. Includes three-piece cleaning rod in the butt trap.

Rating Definition:

Good with a refinished barrel and sling bar, some traces of original finish on a few other components, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, scattered light freckling and some patches of light pitting. Stock is fair as sanded and re-oiled, with an absent section visible at the left below the chamber area, and scattered scratches and dents. Mechanically excellent.
