Bore Condition: The bore is frosted with some light pitting and distinct rifling.
Description:

The factory letter lists this rifle as invoiced on July 29, 1878, to A.J. Plate & Co. of San Francisco, California, and as recorded as .50 caliber with a 30 inch barrel, double set triggers, open sights, and oil finished stocks. The weight was 11 pounds 6 ounces and the price was "42 less 35%." The order also included 50 Hunter's Rifles and 29 Sporting Rifles. Also includes consignor notes and a target shot at 50 yards with the rifle. Matching numbered Bridgeport barrel is part octagon and is marked "CALIBRE 50" on top at the breech, while the case length "1 3/4" is marked on the right and "2198" is marked on the left. It is fitted with a modern Galilean telescopic globe front sight and tang mounted peep sight and a Lawrence patent rear sight. Provenance: The Jim Jennings Collection; Property of a Gentleman

Rating Definition:

Fine as updated with traces of original finish, mostly grey patina, some scattered light pitting, and minor dings and scratches on the wood (buttstock replaced). Mechanically excellent.
