Description:

Cannons such as this were utilized by the U.S. Navy from the late 1800s until the 1950s for throwing lines to shore and nearby ships. The base is marked "COSTON SIGNAL Co./NEW YORK/U.S.A." on both sides. The whole piece is of cast iron construction. The barrel measures approximately 29 inches long with an approximate bore measurement of 2 3/8 inches. The base measures approximately 28 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with an attractively aged patina overall and some mild oxidation.
