A) A. L. C. Signed Half-Stock Rifle with 1882 Inscription

Bore Condition: The bore is dark and has oxidation and faint rifling.
Description:

"A. L. C" signed barrel. The tag on the trigger guard attributes the rifle to Alsanen L. Cooley (b. 1820) of Athens Township, Ohio. The toe plate is inscribed "Dec 19th/1882 Long John".

Rating Definition:

Fair with a dark mix of patina and older applied finish on the barrel, oxidation/pitting, aged patina on the mounts, cracked barrel tang, some replacement parts, chips and cracks in the stock, and moderate wear. Mechanically fine (set trigger first).

These rifles were manufactured around 1850s-1860s by James and Granville Henry at the Boulton Gun Works near Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished with mix of finish and dark brown patina, oxidation/pitting, repaired cracks in the stock, some chips by the upper tang, and mild overall wear. Mechanically fine.
