Description:

Gunmaker Mathias Nowotny is recorded in Leitmeitz, Bohemia, and Vienna, Austria, from c. 1825 until his death in 1856. The case contains a ball mold, measures, and rod. Also included is information about Alfred Matthews (1793-1873) and his service in the U.K. Royal Navy in the early 19th century.

Rating Definition:

Very good with much of the original finish remaining, some light oxidation, distinct engraving and carving, and generally minor age and storage related wear. Mechanically needs work. The rod is broken. The case is fair with sections of veneer absent, loose lid pulls, and age and storage related wear.
