The S/42 and 1937 "ghost" markings of the Mauser Oberndorf factory on the receiver indicate that one of their K98k receivers was factory scrubbed and utilized to produce this rifle. The consignor states that a prior owner was told that this rifle came from the rack of the arms room of some Party, SA or SS headquarters building in Germany at the end of World War II. Matching visible serial numbers on the rear sight ladder, barrel, receiver, bolt assembly, bolt release, trigger housing, and magazine floor plate. Fitted with a grasping groove walnut stock set. Includes a brown leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining most of the original finish with plum coloration on the bolt stop, some minor spotting/freckling, and some light handling marks. The stock is also very fine with scattered light compression marks and minor scrapes. Mechanically excellent.
