Manufactured in 1914, subsequently fitted with a Model 1913 Warner & Swasey "telescopic musket sight" scope. The U.S. Army reportedly purchased 5,730 Model 1913 musket sights between 1913-1918, and Model 1903 rifles equipped with these type of scopes were used in the Mexican Punitive Expedition in 1916 and in France by the American Expeditionary Force between 1917-1918. "SA/flaming bomb/5-14" marked barrel, unmarked straight-handle bolt, and "H" marked bayonet lug. Fitted with a 'high-hump' walnut handguard and 'S' profile grasping groove walnut stock with visible boxed "S.A." (U.S. Springfield Armory) and "BA" (U.S. Benicia Arsenal) rebuild stamps on the left of the wrist. The reproduction telescopic sight mounting bracket is unmarked, with the left side of the telescopic sight body roll-stamped: "TELESCOPIC MUSKET SIGHT/MODEL of 1913 No. 3774/THE WARNER & SWASEY CO." above the two-line address and patent dates. Includes a steel-hooked M1907 leather sling, a leather scope case, and an extra rubber eye piece for the scope.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished and subsequently reworked and fitted with a Model 1913 Warner & Swasey scope, retaining much of the finish with scattered minor pitting visible under the finish, some minor edge wear, some minor spotting/freckling on the mount, and light handling marks. The stock is very good as sanded and re-oiled with numerous light scrapes and dents along with a splice repair to the left side of the front recoil bolt. Mechanically excellent. The scope is very fine with clear optics.
