Description:

Devoid of makers marks, this bandolier is constructed from "feldgrau" colored cloth with matching button snaps, each side fitted with two single-compartment clip pockets and four double-compartment clip pockets. A combination of brown, tan and green paint has been applied to the external facings and buttons, in the style of a field-improvised tritone camouflage; German forces are known to have made use of a variety of non-official camouflage to supplement official patterns, with paint intended for vehicle finishing/repairs being a common tool. Consignor statements attribute the item as a veteran bring-back, formerly of the George Petersen Collection. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good overall showing wear and staining appropriate to age and use. The paint is fading but still legible, with some wear on the snaps and two of the celluloid covers absent from the single compartment pockets on the right side of the bandolier.
