Manufactured c. 1859-1874, this interesting pistol was originally made by C. Sharps & Co. as a Model 1C four-shot pepperbox pistol. Sometime during its period of use, a talented gunsmith converted this pepperbox into a single shot parlor type target pistol through various modifications. These modifications include the extended barrel with fixed blade and notch sights, shim plates on the forward face of the recoil shield, and the typically rotating hammer fixed permanently to strike the .22 RF cartridge placed in the single shot barrel. The butt has been fitted with a full brass cap rather than the typical plate securing the grips. Both sides of the frame have additional "JF" markings, possibly the initials of the gunsmith who completed this conversion. The bottom of the barrel is numbered "18673".

Fine as period converted, with some blue finish on the barrel, attractively aged brass, a few patches of light spotting/pitting, and a few scattered light handling marks on the grips. Mechanically excellent.
