Description:

Charles Marion Russell (American 1864-1926) sculptured these pair of Indian plaques for the Abercrombie & Fitch's New York City department store. These plaques were sold exclusively in this store in the 1920-1960 era. After the New York store closed the consignor obtained the remaining stock of these plaques. The plaques represent the young defiant indian Brave & the second plaque depicts the same warrior as an old passive warrior that upon age turned into. Both of the bronze plaques are signed on the obverse side "CMR" and "CMRUSSELL". The dimensions of these oval bronze plaques are 4" in height and 3 1/4" in width. The total weight is about 2 pounds each and are in very good condition. Each plaque has a hole in the top of the bronze where they can be easily wall mounted.
